Mardi Gras (T-Tues)

Somewhere in the world, as I type this, it is Mardi Gras.  Fat Tuesday.  Carnival.  For me, it's a time of happiness, indulgence, and celebration.

Over the weekend I attended a carnival at a local church, and I won the cake walk.  My prize was a dozen rainbow cupcakes with rainbow sprinkles.  They're completely unhealthy; therefore they're the perfect Mardi Gras treat.  :)  Though most of the cupcakes have already been gobbled up by my family, a few remain, and I had one with my morning coffee break.

Supplies for album: tags from Crate; all tags & paper edges treated with Distress Stain from Ranger; Creative Memories corner punch; standard office hole punch; binding ring from October Afternoon; tulle ribbon from Wyla; other ribbons from Scrapbook Fantasies.

The pastel sprinkles on my cupcake reminded me of the pastel colors on a mini album that I made awhile ago.  Therefore, this seems like as good a time as any to share the album on my blog.  The theme of the mini is the Seven Virtues (the polar opposites of the Seven Deadly Sins), and I made it for fun, as a sort of meditation on the topic of virtue.  I chose the "tag album" format--a format I love and use frequently.  Here are pictures of each album page.

Additional supplies for cover: vintage ticket from Jenni Bowlin; word stickers from Simple Stories; die cuts & additional stickers from October Afternoon; button upcycled from old clothing; household twine.

Additional supplies for "Patience": flair badge & alphabet stickers from October Afternoon; decorative stickers from My Mind's Eye; papers from Crate; tulle from Wyla.

Additional supplies for "Kindness": vintage ticket from Jenni Bowlin; word sticker from My Mind's Eye; alphabet stickers from Simple Stories; paper from Crate; heart punch from All Night Media; die cut circle from October Afternoon; vintage metal accent from Olla Podrida; thread from DMC.

Additional supplies for "Restraint": die cuts from October Afternoon; alphabet stickers from Simple Stories; button from Blumenthal Lansing; thread from Singer; ribbon bow upcycled from old, store-bought greeting card.

Additional supplies for "Generosity": chipboard from Tattered Angels; chalk from Stampin' Up; tulle from Wyla; bird sticker from Simple Stories; label & alphabet stickers from October Afternoon; household twine.

Additional supplies for "Humility": web ribbon from Scrapbook Fantasies; ink from Hero Arts; label sticker from My Mind's Eye; alphabet stickers from October Afternoon; button upcycled from old clothing; household twine.

Additional supplies for "Purity": ledger paper from Crate; fairy image from Graphic 45; label sticker from My Mind's Eye; alphabet stickers from October Afternoon; flowers from Petaloo; glitter from Ranger; thread from Singer; vintage charm from Olla Podrida.

Additional supplies for "Diligence": paper from Crate; sticker frame from My Mind's Eye; vintage ticket from Jenni Bowlin; flowers from Petaloo; B/W alphabet stickers from Doodlebug; G/W alphabet stickers from October Afternoon; household twine & paper clip.

That's my day in a nutshell: a rainbow cupcake to reflect my more festive thoughts, and a rainbow tag album to reflect my more solemn ones.  How is today treating you?

Yum! Great looking cupcake, and what a fun way to celebrate Mardi Gras. It's true that Mardi Gras has hit somewhere in the world, already.

Your little book is adorable. I've been making a book out of old file folders, and I can't get my stickers to stay on. Can stickers get too old? Or is it because they were put on over paint? I adore how you made yours, though. You have lots of lovely supplies, too. I especially like the little angels.

Thanks for joining T with your Mardi Gras inspired post today.

^ Thanks, Nikki! I tried to comment on your blog, but G+ won't allow me to, for some reason. But I very much enjoyed reading your post and seeing your photos. Happy T Day!

Такой классный альбом(журнал) на тегах Дениз!
Кекс очень аппетитный)А я всю масленичную неделю объедалась блинами и набрала лишних 1,5кг. Охо-хо, как теперь от них избавиться?

When you say "cake walk" do you mean the dance I wonder? Long time since I danced that!

^ Rainbow Foods, actually. It's the closest grocery store to the church. They are rainbow cupcakes with rainbow sprinkles from Rainbow Foods. Groovy. :)

OMGosh!! I love the little ring booklet because it is so pretty and because it has the virtues. I agree--people focus too much on the sins. And your rainbow cupcakes--ahhh! I love colors and those look delicious.
Happy very belated T-Day! I'm sure there are no cupcakes left by now. ;)
