First, I was inspired by the mood board from Scrap Around The World. I especially liked the black and white image of the child clinging to an adult's hand. This is what inspired my photo choice for this layout. It also inspired me to convert my photo to black and white before printing it. I think black and white photography conveys a timeless, sentimental feeling--perfect for this page.

I decided not to limit my layout to a black and white palette, though. I thought that my B&W photo would stand out more if it were matted on colored paper. I drew color inspiration from a box of (yummy!) jasmine tea. I loved the watery blueish purples and the smudgy green-golds of the artwork on the box, so I used these colors on my page.
For design inspiration, I used the September sketch from Berry 71 Bleu.

This month Berry 71 Bleu is also requiring participants to use mixed media in their projects. Here are some detail shots of my mixed media work on this page:
stamping with green acrylic paint and bubble wrap |
wax resist borders with crayons & watercolor paint |
adding shading & detail with colored pencils |
masking with alphabet stickers & Distress Marker |
stenciling with Distress Stickles (chunky glitter glue) & negatives left over from used stickers |
stamping with archival ink |
crackle glaze edging on photo (tinted with watercolor paints) |
And that's about it! Now that we've examined all the little details on the photo, I'll close with an image of the whole layout, to refresh your memory. Take care and have a great day!

Hey Denise! Thanks for visiting my blog:):) I used to do that all the time, checking out what others were doing from the challenge side bars...it's FUN:):):) you've done a Lovely job on this one- specially like your mixed media work.....I must check out berry71bleu next challenge ...they have some great ones:):):)
^ Seeing other people's interpretations of challenges is part of the fun for me. :) I always try to visit the blogs of at least 3 other participants for each challenge that I play along with. Sometimes I visit people I "know," and other times I just visit people whose projects make me want to say "Wow! Great job."
What a fantastic page. I love your photo choice and can see how the mood board has influenced you. So many wonderful details to look at. I had to smile when you mentioned the inspiration for your colours came from a packet of tea....isn't it just a wonderful thing when the simplest of objects can spark our creative decisions. Thanks so much for playing along with our challenge at Scrap Around The World this month.....and thanks too for being such a great team player and leaving some love for other participants, we love to see this.
As a mixed media artist, I can certainly appreciate that wonderful layout. Although I'm not a scrapbooker, this spread was a perfect meld of mixed media and photography.
I confess, when I first saw the photo, it didn't dawn on me that it was in black and white. The background and ephemera were all so colorful, black and white was the PERFECT choice for this spread. The photo took on a life of its own as a result. To say I love it would be an understatement.
Of course, I loved how you used the tea container (package) as your color inspiration. Everything came together so well as a result. And thanks for sharing it for T today.
Super sweet photo Denise! I love the wavy "togetherness" title too!
