Summer Fun, with Gatorade Standing in for Tea

Hello, all!  As has become a tradition for me on most Tuesdays, I am linking up today with Elizabeth's T on Tuesday post.  This week in my photo I have the sports drink Gatorade standing in for tea.  My son is generously sharing his drink with a dinosaur at the park.  :)  Now that Labor Day has passed and summer is over, I'm having fun looking back on summer photos like this one.

Besides visiting lots of parks and other local destinations over the summer, my family also took a road trip to northern Minnesota.  (Many scrapbook pages about this trip will be showing up on my blog soon...stay tuned).  On the way home, we stopped at a BIG scrapbooking store in Pine City.  (The store is pictured below; isn't it cute?)  There I found some Crate Paper "Pretty Party" papers that I had been wanting for a long time.  Yay!

Today I want to share a "just for fun" project with you.  It's a card that I made with my new "Pretty Party" supplies.  I recently realized that most of the projects I display on my blog are for contests/challenges, and I've decided that I should make a point of also showing "just for fun" projects, at least once per month.  The "fun" of paper crafting is the most important aspect of the hobby for me, and I want to make sure I don't lose sight of that.

Supplies: cardstock from Neenah Paper; all designer paper from Crate; thread from DMC; Distress Stain from Ranger.

I have also decided that, from this point forth, I will mention why each project that I post is "green."  (Just as I want to emphasize the fun side of papercrafting, I also want to continue to emphasize the eco-friendly side of my crafting.)  The card above is green because: I used an older item (the embroidery thread, left over from the days when I was a cross stitch fiend) from my stash.  Waste not, want not.

I hope that September is off to a good start for all of you.  I'm looking forward to getting around to visit lots of blogs today.  Take care!

О, Denise, Hi! спасибо за ответ, теперь обязательно попробую сделать это печенье! Интересное фото с динозавриком!Открытка как то не в стиле Denise Price - такие мягкие тона! но очень симпатичная!

Gatorade is the perfect tea replacement for when you want to replenish your body fluids.

I'm a BIG fan of recycling, and eco friendly projects. We should "talk" one of these days about me interviewing you for my annual April Earth Month. It's never too soon to think about Earth Day, which should actually be every day.

I can't wait to see future green projects you create. I hope you'll consider doing them for T Tuesday. Two birds, one post (so to speak).

Happy slightly late T to you. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. It's been a busy day.

Hello there!! What a cute summer picture that is. We don't have any cool dinosaurs at our park??!! FUN!

I love recycling too. The card is so pretty and crafting just for the fun of it is a MUST!!!

I would have loved going to the scrap store, always love going to them. Looking forward to your layouts.

Have a good week!

I'd dearly love to own a great little scrapbook store like the one in your photo! I just love those trees on the building! Cute pic of your son sharing his drink, and I'm glad you had some fun times to share this summer!

Great to see your T Tuesday post. Your card is really pretty. I like to make cards, I enjoy sending my own little art pieces off in the mail.

I had no idea that store existed. I'm going to have to remember that next time we go to Duluth. My family likely won't be too thrilled with the side trip but maybe there is an ice cream shop near by. :)

^ As a matter of fact, there is a nice park/playground across the street from the store (that's where I was standing when I took the photo), and there is an old fashioned ice cream shop (which also had baked goods and candy) just down the street. It is a great place to stop when you need a break from I-35!

Thank you for getting around to visit me and leave me some love, Denise! (I'm sorry to hear you are also a degenerate.) And thank you for the specifics on your green use; it's another reminder to all of us to follow suit! I love the photo of your sweet boy sharing his drink with the thirsty dino and your card is fantastic!

^ FYI y'all, Darnell and I are not really "degenerates" (though you probably guessed that). It's an inside joke about a health condition that affects us both...
